Honey Bees

Today is about “Honey Bees” which is becoming big news these days.
I am embarrassed to know recently, but as the number of bees is drastically decreasing, scholars say they will be extinct in 20 more years, and beekeepers say in ten years.

First of all, about Honey Bees work.

Honey bees help fruit pollination of flowers and make it fruit. 70% of our food is made by pollination.
Honey bees who are playing such an important role is in danger of extinction, if it goes as it is, it will only become petrochemical products in the supermarket after 10 years.

And Honey bees are supported not only by food but also the forest and the ecosystem of the living beings living there. Pollinated, the fruits of the trees, the fruits fall to the ground and trees grow from there again. In this way the forest is made and the ecosystem is kept, but the living things living there will die out as long as the bearings are gone. In addition, there is no water that stores nutrients and there is a big impact on living creatures in rivers and the sea. Of course also to humans. The moment when the earth’s life stops at the moment when the honey bees are gone …

It is a well-known fact that many living things are drastically decreasing as well as honey bees. Again, the cause seems to be environmental destruction, electromagnetic waves, agricultural chemicals, but a definitive solution has not been found. In the meantime, there is a beekeeper who keeps on trying to solve this big problem. Mr. Funabashi who works at NPO Honey Farm.

Mr. Funabashi tells the importance of honey bees in lectures, training, classes, workshops, books, film screenings, etc. He went to Paris the city of food, and he had a cooperative relationship with the Paris Opera House and the Central Beekeeping Committee in Paris.

As to why he went to Paris, he got a hint on the behavior of President Imabari Towel who became Japan’s leading brand now. When the brand was not sold so much in the Japan, it was introduced in New York where they got a big prize and since it gained awareness even in Japan, they the brand became a brand that many people know now. Then Mr. Funabashi decided to go to Paris for food.

The general manager of the Opera says that he was moved by Mr. Funabashi’s enthusiasm of course his honey was so good though. And the President of the Central Beekeeping Committee in Paris said to Mr. Funabashi like this.

“I am happy that I can make friends with the respected Japanese. Because Japanese people see God in nature one by one, living politely living carefully with their nature?”

…To notice the important things near me, I thought of such things as playing a role with my own thoughts rather than people’s evaluation.

Well, what can we do in a crisis situation where the bees are drastically reduced? Mr. Funabashi tells you to start with the following things.

1. First of all thanks for nature
2. Reduce use of chemicals as much as possible (Herbicides used at home etc)
3. Planting flowers and greens (Reduce chemicals and increase plants and lives)
4. Be careful about shopping (Choose people or environment friendly products, not buy foods containing words that you can not understand)

I think that I take a step forward as a member of the earth. Thanks to those already active, and do what I can do!
