Hawaii Island – Climate –
The last blog was about Breakfast in Hawaii Island, today is about the climate.
The basic information is about Hawaiian Islands.
Maui Island, Moloka‘i Island, O‘ahu Island, Kaua‘i Island and Island of Hawai‘i are famous but there are 19 islands and corals.
This is the map of Hawaii Islands, the right one is Hawaii Island. (from Wikipedia)
And this is the satellite photo of Hawaii Island. (from Wikipedia and the picture is from NASA, what a great photo!)
It is said that the island shapes right side of a bear (the right is a nose and the left is ear)
As you can see the satellite photo, this island is made up with 5 volcanoes. Mauna Loa and Kīlauea are active (Kīlauea is erupting active As of May 2008).
I participated in a tour around the island by car on the next day I arrived. I think it is a big island because we managed to get around in a hurry.
I sat in the front seat luckily, and I was able to enjoy the view. I learned a lot because the guide has deep knowledges, climate, culture, history etc. What was most surprised about the climate was there are 11 climates on the island, the total climates on the earth is 13! (expect desert and ice cap)! Maybe you don’t believe but it is true!
Faster and in a few minutes or after 1 hour drive, the climates changes different one. The black lava earth, grass fields, tropical rain forests, lava area and firm etc, it is busy. So that the weather also changes very busy, perfect clear, shower, heavy rain, chilly… However all weather is very beautiful. And speaking of Hawaii, it is famous for rainbow! I saw perfect half circle rainbow, maybe first time in my life. I was very touched, moreover I saw three rainbows that day.
Usually we can go near the crater but the Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park is limited to enter (it was closed day before we went), we couldn’t go to where lava flows. However I felt the warmth when I lied down on the lava plateau or the view was like another planet, I felt like a sense of security somewhat as Perra goddess seems to be embraced.
And the temperature, I felt so good because it was not fiery. In general, there were many cloudy days, but it is clear up suddenly. When you visit there this season, I think it is better to bring clothes layered.
The basic information about the climate is like this.
Here are pictures when I went around the island.
