Polynesians arrived at Island of Hawaii where nobody lived. They came with canoes relying solely on the starlight.

Many migrants came from Tahiti. The basic Hawaiian ancient foundation of faith that the gods or half-gods and half-person brought in at this time. Every era, various races came to the islands, and the top changed often by looking at the relationship between the islands and people. That’s why Hawaii is called as melting pot place the most.

As a Japanese, 1881 is featured year. The new culture would be born if Hawaii and Japan were united at that time, interesting.

One more thing, tourism industry is now the best industry, but in the 20th century sugar and pineapple plantation was driving the economy of Hawaii. Immigrants from various countries worked at plantations, but their life seemed to have been very severe. It is said that some people escaped without being able to endure their lives. Japanese immigrants were the most in 1902 as I wrote above, because they worked very hard and they were patient. They worked hard as started companies or business after working at plantation was declined. I saw a lot of Japanese family names of shop signs, there were menus in Japanese at restaurants or cafes there.

It seems that there were a lot of hard work, I asked a Japanese woman who lives in Hawaii Island about the situation at the time. She said “I thought that it was pretty harsh living, and she saw some pictures then. Unexpectedly their faces were gentle and smiling. I was relieved somehow. Maybe this warm weather makes them so”. Her words were impressed. I think the close relationship between Hawaii and Japan nowadays relates to predecessors’ efforts.

Today’s pictures are the statue of Kamehameha I and old people who sing Hawaiian songs at a community center behind that statue. There are people of various races, the atmosphere was peaceful and warm.
